i-river chiangmai (SHA Extra Plus)

The pool by the river has a lovely view, and I really enjoyed the setting. Breakfast was good, and there was complimentary water, drinks, and coffee available all day. Yean was especially kind and helpful.

The porters damaged two of my suitcases, one new and one borrowed, and the hotel offered no compensation or satisfactory reply. Since I was only at the start of my Thailand trip, I had to buy replacements at a very high price. It was also hard to sort anything out because reception staff spoke very little English. We had booked three rooms more than six months ahead for our family with children, but were placed in separate parts of the hotel instead of near one another. The rooms smelled moldy, and with no elevator, getting our luggage upstairs was difficult. A very disappointing stay, with poor service and uncomfortable conditions. I wouldn't recommend it.

The riverside view was nice, but it couldn't make up for how uncomfortable the stay was. Mosquitoes were a serious nuisance, and the repellents supplied by the hotel didn't help. Noise carried through the poor soundproofing, so I could hear the hallway and neighboring rooms all night. The room cleanliness also left me questioning the standards. I wouldn't recommend I-River Chiangmai unless you're willing to give up basic comfort for the location.

We had such a good time here and would happily come back. The river beside the pool and chill-out area makes for a really peaceful spot, and the rooms were clean with comfortable beds. There’s a large kitchen area in the backyard by the pool where you can help yourself to water, coffee, and fruit for free. Breakfast was good too, and the staff kept an eye on things so everything stayed stocked. The city’s night markets are about a 10-minute walk away.
