Lanna Hostel

We paid €40 per night per Deluxe Room. The bed was HARD, the room was small and unclean, with hair in the bed. The bathroom had mold, dirty doors, and a sink coming loose from the wall with a gap. The room door and hallways weren’t clean either. The toilet seat was loose, so you had to sit in one spot to avoid winding up on the floor or the bowl itself. There were small ants, and the aircon was noisy. Owner, please comment on all of this. Sorry, I hate leaving bad reviews, but hopefully this one will move the owner to do something.

My flight was delayed by days, and they went out of their way to help me. They made sure I had a room despite the date changes, which took a lot of effort. I’m thankful for the comfortable stay.

The staff were warm and gave us helpful tips for restaurants and places away from the usual paths. After visiting Chiang Mai more than 20 years ago, I found Lanna Hostel to be about as close as you can get today to an authentic Thai hostel, even as the city changes quickly. The rooms are on the small side, but very clean and comfortable. For a budget stay, it's a real gem.

I loved staying at Lanna Hostel. The place is so cute, with stained glass windows and bright pillows, and the owner and staff are really friendly and helpful. The rooms are small and you can hear through the walls, but it's a Thai building, so what do you expect? The beds are super comfortable and everything is spotless. It's a quiet spot since it's off the main street, yet still easy to reach. You can walk to several places in old town Chiang Mai, including the Sunday evening market, and there are tasty cheap places to eat, coffee, and convenience stores close by. This is my favourite hostel I've stayed at. I'd give it 6 stars if I could!
