Lubee Chiangmai

The rooms were tidy and clean, but the pool was very dirty. When the air conditioner stopped working, they moved me to another room. I had an internet issue too, and they sent me to a computer repair technician :). I paid 650 baht for myself and 250 for my dog.

There are lovely garden paths between the villas, a pond with fish and a medium-sized pool. The small property is beautiful, set in a safe gated community just outside Chiang Mai city centre. It's a comfortable stay if you aren't expecting luxury. When we arrived, we couldn't find staff and waited a while, but they later upgraded our rooms for free, which was considerate. The rooms look nice, though some appliances are old or damaged. The bathtub was damaged, and several drawers and cupboards were difficult to open or shut. The bed and toilet were fine, and the little flaws didn't bother us too much. Staff mostly keep to themselves rather than being especially friendly, but they're helpful when you need them. One disappointing sight was a cage in the garden with a reptile that looked very sad and poorly cared for, with hardly any room to move. It would be a lovely addition to the hotel if it had a better enclosure.

The courtyard is lovely, and the staff provide good service. My room wasn't as good, though, since there was mold in the toilet. The location also turned out to be farther from the airport than I expected.

I paid 8,975 THB for three nights, about what better hotels in central Chiang Mai cost. I found this place through Agoda when I urgently needed somewhere to rest and was exhausted, so I didn't check the location carefully. It turned out to be isolated, far from the centre and from where my friends were staying. There was no elevator, and after I got to my room it took 30 minutes for staff to bring up my luggage. I asked to leave early and agreed with the receptionist that I'd pay for one night and get a refund for the other two, then moved to another hotel. Later, Agoda told me they couldn't reach the staff member, and the hotel refused to refund me.
