The beds were the one thing we weren’t keen on, since they were on the uncomfortable side. The TV also had limited channels and no casting, though we were too busy to mind. The rooms otherwise had enough space for two and a nice bathroom, with a pleasing teak look that suited the area. We came for our honeymoon and were made to feel at home from the moment we arrived. The staff explained how everything worked, were helpful throughout, and gave us a sincere welcome every time we came in. The hotel is beautiful and in a great spot for temples, food, and other things to do around the old city. Breakfast was nice. I often chose the Thai stir-fried pork and basil, while my wife enjoyed the toasties. Both came with fresh fruit and bread, and the morning staff were very friendly. Chiang Mai was our favourite part of the trip, and we’ll return here when we come back.

We walked all over the Old Town from Makkachiva Hotel, and Grab could stop right at the front when we needed a ride. The breakfast was delicious, and the laundry service was both great and very affordable. The hotel is a beautiful historic wood building with a charming feel. The staff were the best we’ve ever experienced, always kind and polite. The breakfast ladies were especially lovely, and I can’t thank them enough for making our stay so pleasant. I hope to come back one day and would highly recommend Makkachiva to anyone visiting Chiang Mai.

The decor, rooms, and location were all excellent, but the service made the biggest impression. Staff were attentive and thoughtful, helping carry our luggage from the room to the taxi and taking good care of us throughout our stay. A wonderful experience all the way through. Highly recommended.

We were so glad we chose this place. The rooms are a good size, the staff are really friendly, and the traditional breakfast was fantastic and set us up for the day. Lovely hotel in the heart of the old city.

Beautiful, clean, and very Thai, including taking your shoes off before going upstairs. The sound isolation was very good too. I stayed at another four-star place for two days that cost more, but its overall quality was still far below this one. Highly recommended!
