Old Tree's House by ZUZU

We spent such a peaceful, relaxing time at Old tree's house, with flowers all around and birds to watch. Nid was incredibly welcoming, checked that we were doing well and shared helpful recommendations. It’s a lovely oasis for anyone looking for a calm setting. We’re already imagining a return someday.

It could be a lovely place with some upkeep, but the bed felt worn out and was extremely hard. The pool isn’t operating, and the resort looks neglected compared with its past. The bathroom tap dripped, the toilet had issues and there was no water pressure. As listed, there’s no TV or AC, and we found just one coffee sachet in the room. There are nicer places in town, and for this price it needs maintenance.

For more than $50 CAN, I expected a lot more. The room seemed poorly maintained: the fan was filthy, the very old bed sagged in the middle, the sink faucet dripped loudly and the bathroom handle was loose. The door lock didn’t work at all. There was one Nescafé packet for two people, which I’ve never encountered in Thailand. The hotel looked quite unlike the photos and felt seriously overpriced. All the pools were empty except for one tiny one. It seemed like the place had been let go, and I won’t return when I’m here again.

From the verandah, we watched birds and looked out over the garden. There are several pools to cool down in, and the woven rush and bamboo bungalows are beautifully made and decorated. It’s peaceful enough to see the stars, while the dawn views across the mountains and river Maekok are breathtaking. Nid was kind and brought us fruit from her garden. A wonderful spot to unwind.
