Oyo 1014 Le Viengping

The mattress was like a brick, and I honestly think the floor might have been more comfortable. The receptionists don’t speak English, and one woman can come across a little grumpy, but both of them are very friendly.

The room was cleaned daily, and the staff were kind and friendly. It’s a quiet spot, and at 400 baht a night the value felt fair. The facilities are basic, the Wi-Fi is average, and the shower has hot water but low pressure. Snacks and cold drinks are sold at reception. We had to switch rooms because the air conditioning smelled really bad and gave us a headache. You get what you pay for, and for us it was worth it.

There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and getting into town is easy with Grab. The hotel is about 3km from the old town. Our room was fine, and it’s good value if you’re on a budget.

I was honestly very upset by the way the older woman treated me. She banged on the table when I asked her to check whether we could extend our stay, so I went back to our old room and asked my partner to handle it. I’m a teacher and don’t respond well to rude behavior, and I didn’t want to make a scene, so I’m writing about it here instead. When she was around, she seemed grumpy and reluctant to help. At one point there was no staff anywhere to be found. I was trying to be polite and use some Thai, and the staff member ironing nearby looked embarrassed by how she was treating me. Maybe she needs more patience with the translator app, or support from younger staff with English or technology. She was terrible to her customer.
