Hostel One Art & Gallery

I stayed at Hostel One Art and Gallery in Chiang Mai in July 2025. The place has a peaceful, artistic feel, with Thai paintings and bamboo details throughout the house. It’s on a quiet lane in the Old City, near Wat Phra Singh, the Saturday Walking Street, and local markets. My ensuite double room with a patio was roomy and comfortable. The bed was soft but supportive, and there was good air-conditioning, a sofa, TV, and small fridge. The patio seems especially nice for cool season mornings. I also found the communal kitchenette useful for coffee and heating food, though I would’ve liked a kettle in the room. Service was polite and functional, but not especially warm. Check-in is strictly at 2 PM, and housekeeping has to be requested. There’s no laundry on site, though several laundromats are nearby. A stylish, quiet option for Gen-X travelers or anyone who cares more about design and atmosphere than full hotel amenities. My full review is in my video diary on my YouTube Channel.

The owner and his son, I think, were super nice. I had a comfortable dorm bed with curtains for privacy, and there was lots of room in the common areas to relax before heading out for Chiang Mai adventures. I’d definitely recommend the hostel.

The dorm was comfortable and reasonably priced. I made good use of the well-equipped shared kitchen for instant coffee and reheating takeaway food. Towels aren’t provided automatically, but you can rent one for 50 bhat.

The shared bathrooms are pretty small, and the rules felt a little daunting at first. They do seem to benefit everyone, including you. I wouldn’t suggest the dorm beds for couples, so book a private room instead.
