The Balcony Chiang Mai Village

I booked The Balcony for a weekend and wound up cancelling my next rental to stay here for seven months. The people working there were thoughtful and accommodating, and breakfast each morning came with good coffee and plenty of things to choose from in the well-stocked kitchen. I loved the room’s natural light, high ceilings, and lovely wooden floor. The huge bed and comfy mattress were a treat, as were the Moroccan-style bathroom tiles and the roomy bathtub. At the centre of the villa-like hotel is a peaceful pool, with a deck nearby for yoga or meditation. I spent plenty of mornings and afternoons swimming in the saltwater or reading on a lounger. Bring a good book. The location worked well for me: the Old Town was a ten-minute bike ride away, and two good supermarkets were within a ten-minute walk. Nana bakery is just across the road, and there’s a pretty weekend market among coconut trees and lagoon-like canals. I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels while travelling, and The Balcony is near the top of my list. I’m already looking forward to going back.

We came for a month while looking for a condo and stayed for six. The place has a pool, a shared kitchen and dining area, fast Wi-Fi, and lovely rooms. It’s a bit out from the town centre, but Grab gets there quickly since it’s on a main route. They also offer scooter hire now. A lot of guests stay long term, and I can see why. We chose this over a condo because it was easy to meet people. Recommended for a short visit or a longer stay.

The employees were very kind, and the room was clean, well equipped, and good. The pool was fine, though it didn’t get much sun while we were there in February 2026. I hadn’t realized when booking that it was outside Chiang Mai, though not far, and in a fairly noisy area. Closing all the windows made it okay. Breakfast is available, but the choices are limited and you have to clean up after yourself. We also tried the bbq restaurant across from the hotel, and its waygu beef was fantastic.

Everyone was kind and helpful, and the air conditioning worked great. The rooms are spacious, with comfortable beds and natural light. They clean the pool almost every day, and the shared areas get a thorough cleaning daily. Grace speaks both English and Thai. There’s secure parking under the hotel for motorcycles, so they stay dry.
