This is easily the best hostel I’ve stayed at in Thailand. It isn’t a party hostel, but the porch is a great place to relax, and there are lots of good people around. Ton was amazing, really knowledgeable and helpful. He suggested several options for tours and local things to do, and the hostel offered a great discount when you booked through them. I’ll definitely come back.

Ton kept checking in while I was riding the Mae Hong Son loop on a bike I rented through his brother. He'd recommended the route, answered my questions, and wanted to know I was safe and enjoying it. Back at the hostel, he made each guest eggs, toast, fruit, and coffee every morning. He knows Chiang Mai and the area so well, and is happy to share what he knows to help people have a great visit. Such a kind, caring, generous host. He made my time in Chiang Mai as good as it could be. A must-stay hostel.

We absolutely loved our time here. The hostel is right on the eastern edge of the old town, so getting around the city is easy. The owner went out of his way to share useful tips on places to see, eat, explore, and things to do. You can rent scooters, book tours for elephants, hikes, excursions and day trips, or arrange a taxi to wherever you want to go nearby.

I liked it enough to extend my stay at Smile Robotist Hostel in Chiang Mai. The location made it easy to get on foot to markets, cafés, temples, and nightlife, and I still felt comfortable and safe there. Tony at the front desk was especially helpful. He knows Chiang Mai and the surrounding area, patiently answered all our questions, and suggested tours that fit what we were looking for. He was also quick to respond on WhatsApp, which made arranging things easy. Great atmosphere and service.
