Rim Ping Guesthouse

For what we paid for three nights during the light festival, I really can’t complain. It’s a guest house, not a 5-star hotel, and you get what you pay for. Jay was attentive and helpful, and we could walk into the old town and to nearby places. The rooms are dated, with mismatched covers and pillows, and some areas need a good dusting. Still, it smelled clean, the covers smelled freshly washed, the air conditioning worked, and there were slippers in the room and fresh water each day. The price for all three nights was less than one night at a local hotel near us, and I’ve stayed in worse places. If you want an affordable stay in a good location with someone caring who’ll look after you, give Rim Ping a try and enjoy Jays hospitality.

This was a bad experience, and definitely my first and last stay here. We found the place on the map because most hotels were full. Agoda listed rooms for around 400 THB, but showed them as fully booked. When I called, the man said there was a room but it would cost 800 THB. We accepted and paid, but the room was in disappointing condition. The sheets were stained and didn’t look like they’d ever been washed, the whole place smelled bad, and drain flies were all over the toilet. I was left wondering how I’d manage to sleep there, but I didn’t have much choice. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone.

The accommodation is simple but has what you need. Jay, the owner, is caring and very nice. He let us leave our large luggage for free while we took a several-day trip to the mountains. Thanks for everything, Jay. We recommend it to others.
