River Art Hotel

The manager went out of his way to help whenever I needed something, and the clean, spacious room and toilet made for a lovely stay. It's a great choice if you love modern art. The garden by the river is lovely, and the area feels calmer because it's a bit away from the main town. I wouldn't recommend the Mountain View rooms, though. Traffic can make them noisy, and the large see-through glass window looks directly onto what seems like a garage or workshop, so there's little privacy and you can't really enjoy the view.

There's a tasty, cheap local meal you can order through reception from noon to 9pm. The breakfasts were tasty too, and the manager was super friendly. We stayed from November 23 to November 27 in spacious, comfortable rooms with balconies overlooking the river. The place feels very local, with a really interesting design full of details to look at and the cutest garden by the river. Nights were quiet. It's about 30 minutes from the old town, and Chiang Mai isn't the nicest city to walk in. We don't use a motorbike, but taxis worked well for us. A ride to the old town took 7-10 minutes and cost only 1.5 eur, so that was more than okay. We strongly recommend this hotel.

The hotel feels like walking into an art gallery, and the rooms are spacious. The pool is small and a bit aged, but the mountain view is nice. It's not a lively neighborhood, though Thapae Gate is only a 10 minute drive away.

The art is a bit edgy, but I never felt they were pushing anything political on me. Mr Tuu and Tat were extremely pleasant, and they went out of their way to help us with everything. The laundry service was amazing. I was disappointed they weren't there to say goodbye when I checked out. I'm turning 40 next month, and this was by far the best hotel I've ever stayed at.
