The Dorm Chiang Mai

It’s well placed near South Gate, my favorite food market, and the price was fair: 8€/300THB for a double room with a fan. The rooms and beds are minimalist, and hot water showers are available. There’s a tea setup downstairs and a “lounge” area. The rooms are poorly insulated, so neighbors and traffic are easy to hear. Air conditioning costs extra.

For 600 bhat I stayed at a hotel down the street, and The Dorm was still nicer. It’s a hostel, not a hotel, but for the price it gives you a clean place to stay. Joom is the nicest person to help arrange tours, charging less than other tour companies and able to make arrangements after hours. I love the garden, and even though the hostel is right in the middle of town, they keep it quiet. Honestly, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Chiang Mai. It’s the best place to stay.

We liked having plenty of room between the beds in the spacious 8-bed dorm at The Dorm Chiang Mai. The toilets and separate hot showers were clean. There are temples and other interesting spots within walking distance, and in the evening we strolled to the colorful food market for lots of tasty, inexpensive food.

We stayed four nights and already want to come back for longer. The place is quiet despite being near the city center, and there’s a local market next door with really good food. The young owners were welcoming and kind, and we had a great time here.
