The Nimman Hotel

I slept well here: the bedding was freshly washed and smelled nice. The room was cozy and fine for the price. Right in the heart of Nimmanhaemin, the hotel also serves an excellent breakfast. The breakfast staff were especially friendly, and the chicken soup with ginger was comforting and gave me a boost.

The young woman at reception spoke English and was helpful and understanding, but I had a bad experience with the older woman there. After an insect bite, I put Thai green ointment on my hand and some green marks ended up on the bedsheet. At checkout, the older woman insisted on charging me 2000baht. I asked whether the stain could be washed out and was told I’d have to wait if I didn’t want to pay. After 10 minutes, she had the younger staff member tell me that housekeeping still saw a light stain. They were speaking Thai, so I couldn’t understand them. I had to call my guide for help, and paid 500baht before I could leave. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

We weren’t hotel guests, but spotted a sign advertising a buffet breakfast for 150THB and came back the next morning. We had to pay before eating since we weren’t staying there. The spread included chicken rice, noodles, salad, porridge, roast and steamed chicken, sausages, fried eggs and omelette, fruit, and dessert. It was definitely good value for money, and we had a fantastic breakfast.

The room has only the bare basics, the bathroom water runs very weakly, and the airplane noise is really loud. The staff and service were excellent, though. I’d say this should be a 2 star hotel, and it’s great for a 2 star hotel.
