The Restel - Hostel

I loved the pool. The location is good, the place feels private and was totally clean, and the staff were friendly.

I’d like to come back here next time I’m in Chiang Mai, especially for the pool. I stayed in an 8-person dorm right behind Maya Mall, but there were only about three of us sharing it during my stay, so using the shower and bathroom wasn’t difficult. The bed came with a really big personal locker, which fit all the things from my two suitcases. The place was always clean, and the hosts were friendly. You can cook for yourself in the kitchen too, which was handy for making ramen when I got hungry. Just be aware that the aircraft noise can be quite loud.

The room had bunk beds, four in all, arranged as two beds on each side, and plenty of wardrobe space. Each bed had its own TV, so headphones gave you some privacy. The place felt like a two-story house, and there’s a pool at the back. It was very clean, peaceful, and not crowded. Airplanes were the only noise we heard. We got a special deal today, December 10th, 2018, the last day of the promotion: 900 THB instead of the full 1,800 THB. It was great value for money, and the clean white bedding and quiet pool were especially nice. We had 4-5 people in an 8-person room, so there weren’t any major inconveniences. Maya Mall and a convenience store are within a 10-minute walk. The airport is close, so you can hear the noise of the banging until around 11:30 PM. I stay up late, so it didn’t bother me.
