You can walk to the waterfall in about 10 minutes, and there are actually two of them. The jungle is quiet at night, though you’ll hear frogs, a few village cats and dogs, and the occasional scooter. I had no trouble with the noise. The huts are simple and rustic but comfortable, and the food served onsite was clean and decent. The owner built them himself with local materials and started the village. He’s happy to chat and share about the local culture. It’s a lovely way to enjoy nature outside the city. Getting there by motorbike is easy, though the final hill is steep. It looks worse than it is, but if you’re not confident riding, you might want to leave the scooter at the bottom and walk up. I’d stay again and recommend it. The family and village are still rebuilding the business after Covid, so staying here supports them.

The rooms are basic, with firm mattresses, but there’s a hot shower, air conditioning, a fan, and a proper toilet. The food was tasty and the people were great. It’s a nice motorbike ride to get here, and there are some lovely walking trails nearby. Amazing place, definitely recommended!

The village was peaceful and everyone was so friendly. Somyos took us around to see local sites, and in the evening we sat together laughing and chatting. Mr. Apae and his wife were wonderful hosts, and the waterfall cafe served fantastic iced lattes and delicious food. I had the best time at Akha Hill House. Staying in the jungle is something I’d highly recommend. It’s one of my favourite places in Thailand, and the memories are close to my heart.

A room with a view, good food, fair prices, and kind people running a beautiful place. I’m amazed by the expectations some people bring to a jungle homestay. If you want a resort and spa, the touristy parts of any country are there. Spend a few nights with an ethnic minority group in rural northern Thailand and experience the real magic of SE Asia.

The food was good and the people working there were nice, but the rooms need some upgrades. They smelled strongly of mildew and weren’t very clean. It was hard to put up with that smell. They offered us a free ride, but it was in an ordinary pickup with no seats or tarp over us, so we arrived soaking wet. I wouldn’t recommend it to my friends.
