The North Hotel

The hotel is clean, the staff are kind, and the location is very central, about a minute’s walk from the night market and under ten minutes from many restaurants. Getting to any room means climbing wooden stairs. We booked a large room through Booking.com, but found on arrival that it was on the fifth floor and there’s no elevator. The front desk agreed to move us to a lower floor. The room we were shown was very small and, in my opinion, not suitable for two people with luggage. The staff member didn’t tell us it was significantly worse than the room we had booked and cost less. Only after we asked did he explain that our large room was available only on the fifth floor.

The bed was comfortable and the staff were friendly. The hotel is across from the night market and bus station, but there wasn’t much noise in the room. For what we paid, I’m pretty happy with our stay.

The room was on the small side, but I liked the decor and the amenities.

The location is good, but the mattress was awful, like sleeping on the floor. When I asked for another room, the receptionist was rude and I had to argue to get moved. The mattress there was the same. I didn’t like the owner’s attitude either. I’m paying to sleep, so I’d expect at least a decent mattress.
