The grounds, rooms, gardens, public spaces, and even the way the food is presented all show a real eye for beauty. The Buddhist shrines, temples, and ruins nearby also give a strong sense of some of Thailand’s special character. We’ve travelled in a few Asian countries, including Vietnam and a little of Cambodia, and really enjoyed our stay at Anandara. The staff were delightful and attentive throughout. We had a knowledgeable guide on the local tour, a fun cooking class with a chef who made it worthwhile and delicious, and a chef and crew who made our sunset dinner in the trees memorable. The spa massages were fabulous, especially the “Signature” and foot massage, and the walk with the elephants was wonderfully unique. One thing to know: the sky bike takes real effort. There’s one set of pedals for two people to travel about 300 meters, so it calls for strength and endurance, especially in the heat. The staff member there was lovely too. Food and drinks were prepared with care and skill. This was an enthusiastic 5 out of 5 for us.

The Elephant walk was the highlight for me, and I’d recommend experiencing it. The work here to keep the elephants safe is unmatched. We spent three nights of our honeymoon here during a two-week Thailand trip in April 2025, and this was easily our favourite stop. The hotel is stunning, the food is delicious, and the staff are attentive without hovering. We were there for Songkran and appreciated how the staff included everyone in the celebrations. Thanks to everyone at Anantara Golden Triangle Elephant Camp & Resort. We’d love to return.

The tented villa was beautifully designed, very comfortable, and had unbelievable jungle views. You can hear guests in the neighbouring tent through the shared wall, though. This was our second Anatara stay, after Seychelles, and the service was outstanding both times. Our personal concierge made everything feel seamless and tailored to us. Take the boat transfer even if you aren’t staying in a villa. It makes for a beautiful arrival, with a chance to feed elephants on the riverbank. We booked both Elephant Guardian and Walking With Giants, and each experience was worth it in its own way. Together, they gave us close encounters with the rescued elephants and a fuller sense of the sanctuary’s conservation work.

It’s some distance from the main town, which is part of why the place feels so calm. There’s greenery all around, and it’s a lovely spot to relax and reconnect with nature. Walking with the giant elephants and hearing their individual stories was the most memorable part for me. Everyone we met was warm and attentive from arrival, and the welcome ritual felt meaningful and special. Khun Nancy and Khun Fon took especially good care of us. The restaurant team were just as friendly, happy to answer questions and suggest dishes. The food had delicious local flavors. We loved our room, and housekeeping went above and beyond. They even prepared a little elephant as a farewell gift, such a thoughtful gesture. Thanks to everyone for a memorable stay and such kind service. We’d come back if we get the chance. 😊🙏🏻🤍

We booked the Explorer Package, with two activities each, and chose Walking With the Giants plus a cultural outing to a local market and a longtail boat. Our afternoon with a wonderful local guide took us around Chiang Saen’s markets, temples, and historic sites, then along the Mekong River for a peaceful, scenic finish. Walking alongside the elephants was unforgettable for both of us. Their calm presence and beauty made the connection feel deeper than we expected. It was clear how well they’re cared for, and how meaningful the camp’s mission is, providing sanctuary for elephants in capacity while supporting growth of the wild population. The suite looked out across the countryside and elephants, making the view feel surreal. My husband and I spent two honeymoon nights here, and the place felt magical from arrival. There was a rhythmic drum ceremony, followed by relaxing mini-massages at check-in, a welcome we hadn’t encountered elsewhere. We had some of our best spa treatments here, with very skilled therapists, and left feeling completely relaxed. Every restaurant served delicious food, and every team member we met went above and beyond. Brooklyn deserves a special mention for bringing kindness to every interaction and making sure the details felt right. If you’re in Northern Thailand, this was an unforgettable stay for us.
