Bangsaen Heritage Hotel

The villa was neat and clean, with full furnishings, a kitchen, and separate living and sleeping areas. For two friends, it was a good size and the nightly rate seemed reasonable. The hotel has plenty of space and is set up well for larger groups. There are lots of restaurants nearby, so we didn't use the barbecue facilities, though they looked well suited to a party. The buggy service was impressive from arrival through departure, and staff gave us plenty of information. We enjoyed our visit and would like to come back. One thing to improve: check that room equipment works before guests arrive. Our refrigerator was warm instead of cold, so we had to order an ice bucket for our drinks.

The location was the one real plus. We booked several kinds of rooms for a large group, from the biggest suite and a deluxe villa to three double rooms, and the same problems came up everywhere. I was surprised to see decent reviews. Our stay was overwhelmingly bad, and I only took a few photos, so they don't show how poor it was. The beds were painfully hard. Sleeping on my side left bruises on my hips. Each bed came with only two pillows. A third was free if requested, but more cost 50 THB, and extra blankets were 100 THB. I've never been charged for basic extra bedding on my travels. Toiletries were sparse and low quality, with no conditioner or lotion. Our villa had four adults but only one key card, which made coordinating a hassle. The property felt old and neglected. Wallpaper was peeling, drawers were broken, there was water damage, and some mold appeared to have been painted over. The AC units were dusty, had bugs in them, and leaked. My husband cleaned their filters so they would cool properly, but they still leaked. The shower drain was blocked and we had to stand in pooled water until my husband removed a tile from the drain mechanism to clear it. Maintenance never answered our calls. Some sink faucets were broken, and TV remotes didn't work. Outside, shrubs were dead and grass had grown over. There were no towels at the pool, so we were glad to have brought our own microfiber ones, and the only patio umbrella was broken. Breakfast was mediocre and felt unhygienic. Food was left uncovered despite lots of flies and people coughing nearby, and several of us had stomachaches afterward. Staff were friendly but didn't help solve problems. At 9:00 PM we asked for ice while visiting family in the suite and were simply told room service was closed, with no other option offered. Aside from being in a good spot, the hotel has little to recommend. Avoid booking here.

The reception team were fabulous and very helpful, and the staff member at the pool was polite too. But I was stopped from swimming because I hadn't bought a swimsuit from the hotel. I brought my own. Meanwhile, several Caucasian guests were diving in wearing what didn't look like proper swimwear and nobody stopped them. We lost an hour waiting to speak with K.Rassamee, the manager responsible for the pool. The hotel should review its swimming pool policy.

The place seems fine for a night or two, but not for a two-week stay. On check-in day, the villa we got was tiny for two people staying that long, and there was just one dirty towel. We asked to switch to a room, which they agreed to for an extra 5600bath. Housekeeping opened our room door without knocking, which felt unprofessional. At the end, we were charged for a dirty towel. A staff member showed me a photo, but how could I know it was ours?
