Chartame Boutique Hotel

The wifi was fast at 50 Mbps, and the grounds were quiet since the hotel is away from the main road. That was about it for us. The hallway and room had a strong musty smell, even though I noticed painting work in the lobby. There were no toiletries, not even body soap or a toothbrush, and seeing them sold in the lobby shop felt cheap. The mini fridge didn't work, so we couldn't keep food or drinks cold. It's a long way from the city via an offroad route, and the room floor was bare cement with no floormat. There were strange stains on the toilet cover and bidet. We stayed more than one night, but housekeeping never came: the rubbish stayed, and neither sheets nor towels were changed, so ants got everywhere. Staff didn't understand English and weren't much help. We were very disappointed with the hospitality, and the price and service weren't worth it. We won't return or recommend it. A cheaper hotel should still provide basic hospitality.

On both the first and second nights, we had cockroaches, frogs, and ants in the room, and I still don't know if the cockroaches got onto the bed. We couldn't sleep well. At check-in there was a dead bird on the balcony and lots of ants on the ground, and the hotel had many insects in general. It's remote and felt eerie at night, which wasn't what I expected from the online pictures. The receptionist couldn't speak English, so communication was difficult. I also saw staff eating durian inside, even though durian is banned. I hope the hotel makes improvements.

My check-in and check-out went smoothly, though I saw the guest before me had booked two rooms but received only one, and the hotel was full. The price seemed reasonable for what you get. Staff speak Thai only, so you may need a translation app. It's set deep in a rural, green area off the main road, with a narrow, dark road on the way in at night, so take care. The greenery is peaceful, but ants, mosquitoes, and other small insects may get into the room, and the floor can feel damp. There's a garden restaurant behind the hotel that you can walk to.

Getting there is fine if you drive, and parking wasn't a problem. It's quiet and comfortable for sleeping. There's a nearby grocery shop that sells cheap beer without time restrictions. I'd recommend it.
