The pantry smelled a bit bad and could use improvement. Otherwise, this was a great first hostel experience for me. The location is strategic, the interiors are nice, and the staff are friendly. It's affordable, the bed and room were comfortable, and they even included a simple breakfast.

After an 18-hour trip from Bangkok to Hatyai on a 3rd class train with a 90° PVC seat, I was glad this place was open to backpackers while the other hostels were closed during the covid lockdown. I paid 250 baht for an AC dorm to treat myself after the long journey instead of taking the 200 baht fan dorm. Like other modern hostels, Hive Hostel has cubicle beds that felt extra comfy. Each cubicle has a personal safety box, a folding table, storage box, reading light, other lighting, and electrical sockets. The wifi was fast, and hot showers and toiletries were included. Coffee and other hot drinks, toast, and cereal were included too. The staff were very friendly and spoke English and Malay. The location was practical, within walking distance of the train station, market, town centre, a pharmacy, a 24-hour kiosk, and halal food for Muslim backpackers. I hope Hive Hostel adds a few benches outside the entrance so guests who smoke can relax there.

The room was big and the bed comfortable, and Lee Garden is only a few minutes' walk away. I spent one night in a private double room with a shared bathroom. The bathroom wasn't very clean, and soundproofing was weak. Breakfast was really basic, with small portions. I'm not sure whether they refill it.

This is the cheapest hostel in town, and you can choose a fan room or air conditioning. It's a good deal and very clean and comfortable, so I really recommend it to backpackers. A simple breakfast is included, and Hatyai Night Market, in front of Lee Garden Hotel, is just a 5-minute walk away. Read the house rules before booking. You'll be sharing a room with others, so please keep quiet.

I really like this hostel, and it's open 24 hours. My plane arrived in hatyai at 10 pm, and I booked just 2 hours before landing, but they still welcomed me. The rooms are clean, towels are provided for every room type, and the beds give you privacy. It's also near the train station, handy if you're continuing your journey or have just arrived by train. Highly recommended, and I'll definitely come back na ~
