Katun's Guesthouse

The host and his wife are friendly, and the room was cheap and cheerful, with both a fan and AC. The location is just off Walking Street, right in the adult entertainment area. That might suit some people, but it wasn’t for me.

The people here are very kind. We enjoyed spending time with the students who take English lessons in the shared space in the mornings. It’s a very quiet spot, even though the local bars are nearby, and the railway station is close too.

Kung and Kai speak very good English and can readily suggest places to eat or visit. My room was clean and had air conditioning, and the morning coffee was free. Getting here from the train station was easy; the beach is about a 15-minute walk and Hua Hin night Market is around 10 minutes away. Kung also teaches English to Thai students. I joined in to help them practice, and even ended up singing songs with them. It was a perfect stay, and if I come back to Hua Hin, I’ll definitely stay here again.

Kai and Kung made me feel completely at home in their lovely little guesthouse on a quiet backstreet. I planned to stay two nights and ended up staying nine. The rooms were spotless and cleaned daily, with everything I needed: AC, fan, fridge, clothes dryer, cupboards, wardrobe, a table and chair, and a comfortable bed. There’s a shared upstairs area outside the rooms with tables, chairs, reading lamps, and a mini library full of books. It’s a great place to enjoy the free coffee from downstairs. Kai and Kung both speak great English, and Kung teaches English to Thai students downstairs. They’re always happy to see you and keen to practice with you. You get a key for 24-hour access through the front gate. It’s a great location, about five minutes from the train station, around 20 minutes from the beach, and within 10 minutes of lots of places to eat. The rooms are very reasonably priced, and I can’t imagine finding a better place to stay in Hua Hin. Thoroughly recommended!
