Good value for a room with breakfast, and a cozy, simple place near the sea, restaurants, and a minute's walk from the water. The art gallery and hostel are nice too. If you're assigned room 403, check with the front office first that the toilet smell problem has been fixed.

The location is handy for restaurants, coffee shops, massage places, the beach, and the minivan station for Bangkok. I liked the minimalist look and the firm but comfortable bed. I booked a superior double on the fourth floor, but was first put in a twin room on the ground floor. I found a staff member at the hotel's cafe next door, and she switched me without any trouble. It was definitely an upgrade. There were some real hassles, though. The Wi-Fi didn't work for my whole two-day stay, and on arrival, and whenever I needed staff, I had to call a number since there was no front desk. The bathroom smelled awful when the water was running. Noise from the bar across the street went on late, so bring earplugs if you're a light or medium sleeper. It was manageable for a night or two, but I'd look elsewhere for a longer stay.
