Kum Nangpaya

The hosts were nice, and the garden overlooks a stream where you can spot nightjars and other birds. The location is right beside the toll gate to Kaeng Krachang National Park. Still, we didn't enjoy our stay. The place felt old and too rustic for us, with long grass and neglected outdoor fixtures. Breakfast cost extra and was overpriced, so the value just wasn't there.

The wooden cabins are decent, with an okay shower and warm water, and there’s plenty of parking. Nights are cold, and we didn't have mosquitoes. You're close to the national park, but can't walk anywhere outside because neighborhood dogs will chase you. You can walk around the resort, though it's smaller than the area's other top resorts. Food is available if you tell them ahead so they can prepare it, and a good restaurant is 9km away.

The food was tasty and good value, and the location is lovely and convenient for the Kaeng Krachang National Park entrance. The rooms, though, were very basic and could use some care. The hosts also didn't seem very interested in helping us find bird guides.

We paid about 1.8kbht a night for two double beds, but the place was poorly maintained. There were just two powerpoints. Even with the extension plug they provided, we could only charge three devices at once. The mattress was thin and the bathroom dingy. Breakfast wasn't included, and 180bht for coffee, toast, eggs, tomato slices, and bacon felt way overpriced by Thailand standards. Bananas were 20bht each. I'd look farther from keang krachan national park for better value, or go into the park and camp overnight instead.
