Ratana Apart-Hotel Kamala

We had a great time at Ratana Platinum Resort. It was easy to get around, with Kamala Beach just a few minutes away on foot. They greeted us with cold tea when we arrived, a lovely touch, and the staff carried our luggage to the room. The room was comfortable and clean, the atmosphere relaxed, and everyone was friendly and helpful. Everything went smoothly, and we felt well looked after. Nice people, good vibes. I’d stay again.

The room was at the back, so with earplugs I slept fine. It had a nice, big terrace. I found the glass bathroom walls an interesting solution, though I was by myself. The hotel is on the main road, near shops and restaurants, and about 10 minutes from the beach. I booked a few trips and got picked up and dropped off at the hotel, but keep in mind that not every trip provider does that. A taxi to Phuket and the airport takes about an hour. I used Bolt and it was fine, though traffic near Phuket can be heavy even around midday.

The big downside was the noise. My windowless room had very thin walls, so I could hear people going to their rooms, the elevator and the cleaning staff. On the first night, drunk tourists were slamming doors and shouting until 3 AM, then the cleaners started at 8 AM. Be ready for that in this type of room. Other rooms may be better. I stayed four nights in a huge superior twin room with no window. It was clean, with fresh sheets and towels, and the shower worked very well. The staff were super friendly and always checked that things were okay. A safety passcode issue was fixed in about five minutes. The restaurant was convenient and the food very good, though prices were a bit higher than outside. Wi-Fi worked well. It’s around a 15-minute walk to the beach, and there’s a 7/11 right across from the place. I’d recommend it if you can handle the room noise.

The staff at Ratana Resort greeted us warmly and answered my questions reassuringly. After checking out early from a nightmare stay at our previous hotel in Karon, they helped restore my faith. Ratana Platinum Resort had what we needed. Our room was just right, with a comfortable bed and a great shower and bath. The rooftop pool was amazing at sunrise and sunset, and there’s a local supermarket a short walk away. The staff were helpful and welcoming every day. It’s an easy walk to the beach, with plenty of places to eat nearby, and a central base for enjoying Kamala Beach. I know where I’ll stay next time I’m in Phuket. Thank you.
