The Trees Kammala by Lofty

After four of our six nights, I’m already dreading the last two and just want the stay to be over. Getting transport is difficult because of the hilly location unless you depend on the limited shuttle. Many things are in disrepair, especially the doors. The glass-fronted wall of doors rattled whenever there was a breeze. Maintenance seems like an afterthought, and cleaning was minimal. There was an almost constant screeching noise that sounded like a smoke alarm, at all hours, stopping briefly before starting again. On top of that, loud booming music played until nearly midnight almost every day. I found the stay close to miserable, enjoyed absolutely nothing, and would recommend looking elsewhere.

The free shuttle was a relief, since this is a very remote spot with no services within walking distance and an extremely steep slope. The bedroom is large, and the unit also has a living room and dining area.

Surrounded by nature, it’s super quiet, with three pools, squash, and a gym. There’s a shuttle bus into town and back. Each room is individually owned, but the excellent Trees staff look after them. A great place if you can get a room, and well worth a second look.

Up on a hill, so having your own transport is better, though the resort runs a scheduled shuttle to the beach. It’s a lovely escape from the city bustle, with greenery all around. Our bright, spacious apartment had everything we needed and felt so cozy and comfortable that we extended our stay by two more weeks. The grounds are carefully maintained, and staff cleaned the pool every day, sometimes twice.
