Ploy Resort

The one disappointment was the wider Kanchanaburi area. We last visited 27 years ago, when it was lovely, and were surprised that things haven’t improved. If anything, it seems worse: many museums are run down, and the area is very dirty for somewhere so popular with tourists. The resort itself was a very nice stay, and I’ll definitely return. It’s in a stunning spot, with a lovely little pool and clean rooms that have what you need for a short visit. The staff were excellent. The young woman at reception was brilliant at sorting out issues and booking a tour boat pickup from the resort. They also have their own tuk tuk, which is handy since local tuk tuks are hard to find compared with most places in Thailand.

A friend from Canada, Kevin, recommended the food, so I stopped by today. The restaurant has a lovely view, but it only serves breakfast. While I was there, Bee from the staff was helpful and showed me the rooms. They all seemed comfortable and spacious, with the river view being the best. It felt like a nice place, and I hope to visit again soon.

A lovely little place for a short holiday, with friendly staff and good value. It’s animal friendly and takes small and medium dogs for just 100 Thai baht each. There’s a tiny pool, but the river view is beautiful.

I liked Ploy Resort so much that I stayed longer than planned. The pool area is wonderfully peaceful, and the rooms are lovely. You’re in the main area for bars and restaurants, with plenty of options within walking distance. The whole staff has been great, especially Bee, who’s really looked after me.
