River Kwai Kiri Resort

The grounds by the river kwai are beautifully decorated, and the restaurant has a cozy feel. Our family room was huge, with two double beds and a special decor that gave it a nice ambience. The outdoor shower and bath tube were a real hit, and the owner has clearly worked to make guests feel warmly welcomed and comfortable. The staff were kind, efficient, and warm, and breakfast was fresh with plenty of choice. We had to move our reservation by a day, but changing the date when we arrived was no problem. We’d happily come back.

The restaurant was a great place for dinner, and the included buffet breakfast was good, though it could have had more choices and an omelette station. We enjoyed our stay despite visiting in rainy season, when flooding covered much of the resort garden along the riverbanks. It’s a lovely resort a little outside Kanchanaburi city. The pool is small and too deep for children to use without supervision, and there’s no separate kids’ pool. Still, we had an enjoyable visit and would recommend coming outside rainy season.

I was back last week and could see how much has changed with the major renovation and expansion. It feels like a brand new hotel, while still keeping its distinctive River Kwai River atmosphere. The peaceful, shady setting and comfortable accommodation make it a great choice in Kanchanaburi. There’s tasty international and local food, plus an impressive range of drinks on the new wooden terrace beside the River Kwai river. I highly recommend it.
