I’m talking about the food and drink stalls on the beach. The cocktails are good, and it’s nice to sit on a mat and watch the sunset. But charging 10 baht to use the toilet is ridiculous, especially with a cute child acting as security. People are already spending money at the beach. Please think about women and older people who may need a toilet during menstruation. Access to one is a human right and should be free.

Low season meant the beach was basically ours. It was just me and my brother, plus one other couple. Such a beautiful island, and the people are nice. Five minutes from the resort, in the jungle, an Australian guy has a campsite and bar. You should go see him! One of the most unique places I’ve visited anywhere.

The beach has beautiful soft white sand, and the bungalows are roomy. Staff were friendly and helpful, and the large restaurant served tasty food at reasonable prices. Just be aware that in low season the electricity runs from 6pm to 9am, and the pool is closed.

The pool has been closed and can’t be used anymore, and the pool bar has been demolished. Following a recent Supreme Court decision about encroachment on national park land, part of the restaurant building was demolished about a month ago. Staff told us the RESORT will probably have to close entirely in around four or five months.

The bamboo huts are tiny, with a lousy mattress on the floor, and full of mosquitoes. It’s wildly overpriced and the people aren’t friendly. There are much better places to stay on this beautiful island.
