Phuket Kata Resotel

The location in kata is great, only five minutes from the beach. Breakfast was below average, and when something ran out there was no refill, so go early. The front desk staff were super rude. One woman with a lot of makeup made fun of me in Thai, not realizing I speak Thai. Another left me standing there while she went to pick up her grab order. I arrived 15 minutes before check-in and they kept telling me the room wasn't ready, which I believe was a lie. The location, cleaning, and kitchen staff were the only good parts. Without those, I'd have rated it -1 star.

Right on the main road in Kata, this is a good place to stay. The rooms and pool are well maintained, and the breakfast buffet was decent.

The room was spacious and I got fresh towels every day, but breakfast wasn't great. Be ready for sweeping and cleaning noises outside your room at 6am each morning, which can wake you up.

Stayed: 15-25 August Reception staff were really nice and helpful, I'd give them 5/5. The hotel itself is old and needs renovation; guests have been saying this for years and nothing has changed. The location is good, with everything close by, but the entrance isn't attractive. 3/5. There isn't a proper gym, just some old, broken equipment near reception. In this heat nobody would use it anyway. The two pools are clean and well kept, but the pool bar has been closed for a long time and there's no entertainment. 3/5. Rooms have Wi-Fi, a safe, fridge, aircon, TV, shower, and other basics. They're cleaned daily whether you want it or not. Housekeeping knocks loudly even when the “SLEEPing” sign is up, then may come in after one knock. Management should fix that. 3/5. The cafe only opens for breakfast, which was average. 3/5. For the price, the hotel needs better service and doesn't deserve four stars.
