The Color Kata Beach

The staff were helpful, and they provide beach towels and a shuttle to the beach. We had to change rooms twice at first, because of ants and then a restroom smell. The first two rooms we switched into were newer and practical, and the deluxe room we eventually got did the job, though it felt a bit cramped. It had a towel radiator and a smart water closet. Our last room hadn't been renovated, but it was fine for the stay. Prices can get a little high in season.

I'd look elsewhere. I booked two weeks and had a miserable time in a room that barely passed as decent. The staff downstairs were dismissive and rude, seemed selective about understanding English, and basically lied about moving me after I'd put up with the room for five days. The mattresses smelled rotten and moldy and had to be taken away. The AC dripped water and nobody fixed it. My so-called deluxe room faced a wall with several outdoor AC units, so even with the windows shut and earplugs, the noise made it hard to stay in the room. I could hear neighbors showering too. Construction was going on one floor below and next to my unit. On the first day, they worked until 10pm; on the following days, work started around 9.30 and continued past 8pm. For the same rate, I'll stay somewhere with a terrace and sea view. There are only a few rooms here that might be decent. I hope management can spare me the “so sorry, nothing can be done” messages after two weeks. They shouldn't have misrepresented the place.

The location made it easy to find and get around, right in the center. I had a wonderful stay and loved the hotel. The rooms were lovely and had everything I needed, plus a bit more. There's also a fully equipped kitchen downstairs. The woman at Reception was fantastic. Many thanks from South Africa, we had a great time.

The construction is the deal breaker. Power tools were going next door during an active renovation until 10 pm. I had to complain every time to get them to stop at night, and while the staff were lovely and apologetic, nobody tried to move me or offered a credit or refund. The work started up again every morning. Check the video with sound if you think I'm exaggerating. After a week of putting up with it, I'm moving to Ozone for the same price, and it's 10x better accommodation. Shop around, you can do better. The room itself was big, with a big bed, fast internet, good water pressure, a fridge, and a kettle. There wasn't any natural light, and the chairs were hard plastic. The lobby has no AC. The beach looks close on the map, but it's a good 10 min walk if you walk fast, along the street that bypasses the crowds.
