Wekata Luxury Hotel

The staff were polite and helpful, and having excursions, massages, and traditional Thai activities on-site was convenient, especially for families with children. There are also lots of affordable places nearby, so it can work well for a budget trip. Still, the facilities and the other guests left a lot to be desired. I was satisfied with this stay, but would look for a better option next time in Phuket. Our room smelled strongly of mold. Running the AC on its dehumidifying setting helped, and other guests told us they had the same complaint. The shower leaked and flooded the bathroom floor each time, so we asked the housekeeper to clean and replace our towels daily. We’re grateful for her hard work. Ants were a constant problem too. The hotel seemed to cater heavily to Russian guests. Some tourists acted as if they owned the place, playing loud music on speakers, smoking weed by the pool, and shouting while drunk in the hallways late at night. Not all Russian guests behaved that way, of course, but most did, and that shaped our impression. Staff didn’t step in or reprimand them. If you want a more refined and comfortable stay, I’d choose another hotel.

The location is great, but the rooms aren’t worth the price. They’re very damp, and the air conditioning doesn’t help. The wooden floor tiles are broken, there’s liquid damage on the walls, and what may be mold or damage on the air conditioners has been painted over. The rooftop smoking area is next to the children’s pool, so using the pool with kids means breathing in the smoke. During our three-week stay, the bedding was changed once.

Our room had pool access, which was lovely for an early morning swim. It was large and comfortable, with a king-size bed and a really good fridge. The staff were friendly, the location was good, and the hotel had everything we could ask for. Can’t wait to come back.

I live on Phuket, so I haven’t stayed at Wekata Luxury hotel, but its restaurant makes me think the hotel must be first-class. I found this place online while looking for a meal, and now I happily drive 25 minutes from home. When I’m around Kata and want something special, I come here. The food is consistently excellent. My favorites are the Yangzhou fried rice, scrambled eggs and tomatoes soup, and Gongbao king prawn dish. Everything on the menu is reasonably priced too. The restaurant has a pleasant atmosphere and is very well run. The whole team is attentive, speaks English, and makes me feel welcome. The Thai and Chinese staff are a wonderful mix. Special thanks to Nit, Pai, Kie, Sabannga, Mama, and Chef Chen. On my last visit I dropped a chopstick, and they noticed and brought me a new set before I could call a waiter. That kind of attention stands out. Kie always greets me with a warm smile, and I highly recommend trying the food.
