Patong Lodge Hotel

That birthday cake at breakfast was such a lovely surprise. The hotel found out that my birthday fell on the last day of our stay and brought me a cake with a candle. Breakfast was tasty and had lots of variety, too. We had a smooth check-in, and the main room was large and very nice. There was a balcony with a lovely view of the pool and the ocean in the distance. The bathroom was a little small, but had a bathtub and a jet spray. One day, maintenance left us without water in the bathroom for almost three hours, and no one had told us ahead of time. Apart from that, we had an amazing stay.

The stay was okayish, and I’d say this is a two-star hotel at most. The room’s AC felt far too small: when it was 36 degrees or hotter outside, it took nearly six hours to bring the room to 25 degrees. The kitchen shuts at 10pm, so after that the only option is ordering a parcel from outside. The bathroom had only a shower, which wasn’t working properly, and no taps. The shampoo and shower gel weren’t up to standard either.

The room opened right onto a big pool, with lots of light and a great setup for our two young kids to hang out and play. During Songkran 2026 there were activities around the pool, including a water ceremony, kids’ games, and dancing to traditional Thai songs with the hotel staff in their traditional Thai costumes. My wife loved it. The location was perfect, just a two-minute walk to two different beaches and 15 minutes on foot to Bangla street. Breakfast was good too. From check-in through check-out, I’d give it 10/10. Couldn’t have asked for more.

The staff were warm and polite, always greeting me with a smile. Still, I got the feeling that Asian guests, especially those from South Asia, were treated differently from Europeans and Americans. Maybe that's coming from management, since the Thai people I’ve met have generally been so generous and courteous. The hotel is right by the beach, but the rooms are tiny and the market is at least 2 km away.
