Jasmine Resort and Spa

I booked through the Agoda app, but when we got there, there was no hotel sign by the road. The room looked very different from the pictures, and staff asked for extra money for everything. The breakfast was awful, just four things on a piece of paper. I've never seen a four-star hotel like this, and I felt conned into paying too much for everything. I'm really unhappy with the whole experience and wouldn't recommend it at all.

The staff were lovely and clearly wanted to help. They helped with our bags and explained things when we arrived, and even offered to start the included breakfast early because we had to leave at 8:30. We didn't take them up on it, but appreciated the offer. I paid 3,900 Baht. That's not much by global standards, but felt pricey for a three-star place in a small Thai seaside town, so I expected something impressive. The developer chose some good materials, and a few furniture designs are attractive, but parts of the layout don't work well. There's no bedside lighting or switches; the basin tap makes a tiny but forceful spray that splashes onto your clothes; and the bathroom mirror is so high that my partner couldn't see the top of her head. The balcony is large but has no chairs, table, or sun lounger. There's barely any storage, just 50cm of hanging space above the coffee area. The light switches and sockets were covered in cling film, presumably to keep dirty fingers off them. The name of our room was Deluxe Sea View, and the map pin made it seem like the hotel was on the beach. In reality it's on the land side of the road behind the beach, perhaps 300m from the sea. From our room, I could see the poolside room roofs and trees, but not the ocean, even on a grey day. If you stay here, the pool rooms may be better value. They have a table and chair outside and direct access to the pool, which could suit families.

The restaurant staff refused to turn off the air conditioning even though it was very cold. Then, when we settled up, they charged much more than the price printed on the menu. Horrible experience. Never again!

A lovely little hidden spot. The food and staff are both very high quality.
