The Posh Khao Kho

The villa has a stylish look, plenty of space, and a huge bathtub the kids loved. The view is lovely, and it’s good for daytime activities when the weather is sunny. There were too many insects during our stay, and the place seemed understaffed. The few staff members we met were helpful and service minded, though.

The coffee was delicious, and the view was nice.

The setting outside and the staff were both lovely, and the location worked well, a reasonable distance from Khao Kho town. But the rooms were a real letdown. The first shower barely trickled and never got warm. Staff checked and found it had no power, then moved me to another room, where the water swung between scalding and cold and the shower head was broken. I was left unsure how to shower and very disappointed. Breakfast felt limited and not especially good, with fried eggs, hot dogs, rice porridge, fried rice, salad, tea and coffee. Paying 4500฿ for this was a shame. I hope the owner gives the service more attention.

The view from the window, including the windmills, was lovely, and this is a good fit if you want a regular hotel building while visiting Khao Kho rather than a dome tent or small resort. Staff were kind and helped with all our luggage. The problems were the weak shower pressure, which made washing difficult, and a rain shower that was basically unusable. At 9 am, a technician drilled somewhere in the building, causing loud vibrations, then there was a short power cut. That work should have waited until guests checked out. Breakfast was disappointing too: rice porridge, salad, coffee and fried eggs, though the eggs were gone when I arrived. The ham, sausage and bread were poor quality and inedible. We stayed December 29th and paid 4,500 THB through Agoda. The water supply and breakfast both need work.
