Moracea by Khao Lak Resort

Our beach bungalow was lovely and peaceful, with fabulous views and a gorgeous stretch of beach right outside. It was only a few minutes’ walk to town, and the room was spotless with plenty of amenities. The food was lovely too. The restaurant staff were pleasant, though not very chatty; a bit more interaction would have been nice. The shuttle drivers were much more talkative and helpful with suggestions, and the shuttle was a great service for avoiding the steep climb from the bungalow to the gate. One thing I’d suggest: provide sunbeds for the beachfront bungalows.

We spent Christmas at Moracea by Khao Lak in a Dahlia Beachfront Villa, and the quiet, private setting made for a really relaxing holiday. The villa was thoughtfully laid out, with a bedroom, separate living room, two bathrooms, and a generous outdoor area with loungers in both sun and shade. Everyone around the resort was very friendly while still giving us space. Housekeeping were especially attentive, though we did miss having turndown service. Breakfast had plenty of choice at the buffet, and we could eat by the water or in the pavilion. In the evening, the hotel bar was a good place for dinner: the food was very good and fairly priced. We had a lovely, restful stay and would recommend Moracea by Khao Lak.

The people at Moracea made our three nights especially memorable. Nat’s infectious joy took the service to another level, and we’ll smile whenever we remember him. Everyone was lovely. We spent a wonderful day on the clean beach, with soft sand and clear blue water, and dinner at sunset there felt magical. Our hibiscus pool access room was excellent, with medium-soft beds, great pillows, and bathrooms stocked with toiletries, robes, nice towels, and flip flops. The pools were clean and a welcome place to cool off after the sun; beach towel stations meant a dry towel was always easy to find. The food was great. We especially liked the fettuccine carbonara and Pad Thai, and the Raspberry Romance Cake was amazing. Booking excursions and transfers at the lobby front desk was simple. They also arranged same-day laundry through a third party, and it came back clean, folded, and fresh. We’ll be back, and next time we’ll stay much longer. We’re off to Khao Sok today.
