RoomQuest SPS Hotel and Residence

The reason I needed a room north of Bangkok was a four-hour flight delay. I live four hours farther north through rural areas, and I don't drive at night. I had a great 12-hour stay for a very good price, and getting onto Route 1 the next morning was easy: back out of the car park, drive 300m, turn left, and there you are. The hotel was absolutely spotless. There wasn't a speck of dust in my room, even on top of the fridge, and the floors were squeaky clean. The downstairs office was tidy too. It was also so quiet. I don't know how many other guests were there, but I heard no one through what seemed like a thin door, and the neighbourhood itself was peaceful. My room was on the second floor, or first floor in the UK or Australia. It was a good size, with an enormous, very firm bed. The shower had excellent pressure and hot water, and towels, coffee and tea making supplies, bath gel, and shampoo were provided. There was off-street parking next door. The receptionist was efficient and professional. There isn't a restaurant on site, but reception has a menu and can call for delivery of around a dozen dishes at normal local meal prices, not tourist prices. I didn't need a full meal, so I got three skewers from the food cart outside the mum and dad shop next door for 30 baht. One driving tip: Google Maps was mostly accurate, but I'd get onto the frontage road three km south of the turnoff, especially if you're driving through rush hour like I was. And a heads-up for foreign visitors, nobody speaks English and there are no signs in English, only Thai. If you've travelled in Thailand, you know you just need to show your booking documents and passport. Ordering food should be fine too, since there are pictures, and menu prices use international numerals rather than Thai ones. If a flight into Bangkok gets delayed or rescheduled on my way home and I need to stop for the night before driving north the next day, I'll stay here again.

It was clean, but that was the only plus for me. The place felt old and was noisy. First stay, and my last.

Really good value, with a big room and modern air conditioning and TV.

Good value for a daily rental apartment, and parking is available.
