Kohkwang Seaview Resort

A lovely resort right on the beach, with very friendly staff. The rooms don't block sound very well, so road traffic can be heard sometimes.

I seem to have ended up with the worst room in the resort. The bathroom door was rotten, there was no shower booth, and the water pressure was very weak. Opening the window just gave me a view of the neighboring building's wall. Staying in this room didn't leave me with a good travel memory.

We booked five nights in a “deluxe” double with a sea view and specifically requested one double bed. When no one replied, we messaged again, but still got no answer. On arrival they said only single beds were available. We agreed to switch once a double became free, then went to our room and found there was no water. That was fixed after two hours, but the toilet kept failing. After it stopped flushing for the third time, we said we'd leave, and they insisted on keeping our money. The room didn't feel deluxe at all, just like a standard room. It seems they renovated one room and used its photo for the deluxe category, while the other four sea-facing rooms had worn furniture, stained sofas, only a Thai-style shower, and a bathroom window that wouldn't close. That was especially worrying after we saw giant cockroaches in the street outside. I wouldn't recommend staying here.

The view from the hotel was stunning, and the quieter, less touristy area made for a peaceful stay. The price is very affordable for such a good location, right opposite a convenience store. We got much more than we paid for, and the staff were lovely and polite. Go ahead and book!
