Pine Bungalow

One of my favorite beaches from my trip around Thailand was right in front of this small resort. It's on the waterfront and away from bars and parties, though a few nice local restaurants and bars are a 10-15 minute walk away. You can also rent a motorbike for 300 baht and ride around town. The rooms and pool were really nice, and the staff were welcoming and helpful. Can't wait to return.

The pool was large and warm, and it never seemed crowded. We had a very relaxed stay despite the issues other reviews mention. The setting is wonderfully peaceful, though restaurants and shops are quite a distance away, which may be part of its charm. Staff generally tried hard to keep things running and helped arrange reasonably priced rides from the airport, to Ao Nang, and onward to our next stop. Scooter rental was straightforward and fairly priced. A few times, though, children or teens at reception seemed more focused on their phones than helping guests. The place feels cheaply built and poorly designed, with lots of small problems that a capable manager could sort out. It has plenty of potential. Also, the on-site “restaurant” was closed every evening during our stay, so don't count on eating there.

The hotel has potential, and evenings were peaceful. The beds were comfortable, blackout curtains worked well, and both water pressure and hot water were good. The beach was pleasant for a long, quiet walk and looked nice at high tide, though the beach itself wasn't great. But there are many things to fix. The slope from the road to reception, and down to the beach-front rooms, is very steep. To reach the beach you have to duck under barbed wire. I saw tourist police nearby one day, so I'm unsure whether they'll raise it with the owners. A gate would make more sense. There's a small pool in front of several bungalows, on an odd concrete platform, with no pool chairs. Rooms have just one clothes hanger, nowhere else to hang clothes or bathroom items, no safe, and no sign for do-not-disturb or room cleaning. WiFi was poor. The on-site restaurant wasn't operating, and no resort information was given on arrival. Check-in and the welcome didn't feel right for a resort at this price or rating. Reception staff spoke less English than cleaners at the next hotel I visited in Krabi town. The nearest place to eat is a five-minute walk along the street and was fairly expensive compared with other nearby options. There's no ride to the nearest restaurant or town area, though it's about a 20-minute walk. Grab technically works, but drivers wouldn't take short trips. An extra key card cost THB 300 and wasn't refundable. Could be a nice resort if they fixed these issues.

A terrible experience. I had booked and paid, but the hotel said there was no reservation. I called Agoda with the speaker on so they could hear, and Agoda staff confirmed the booking. I had proof, including the bank transaction and confirmation number, but the hotel still wouldn't let us stay and took no responsibility. It happened at night during high season, so finding somewhere else was difficult and prices were high. Worst hotel I've experienced in Krabi, Thailand.
