Kaen Inn Hotel

The room had several maintenance issues that seemed to have been left for years, and I found scraps of wallpaper in the closet. The desk sits right in front of the TV, and the bedside tables are too far away to reach from the bed. Lighting could be better, though opening the window between the living area and bathroom lets in more light. The toilet has a bidet built into the seat, operated by a lever. The air conditioning worked very well and could be turned on without a key card. There was no remote, but the wall controls were easy enough to use. Wi-Fi was a guessing game. The password printed on the keycard was wrong, and the network and password written in the room were wrong too, so it was hard to know what to connect to. When I went to the front desk for help, the woman said the first password letter wasn’t capitalized, even though it was printed that way on the keycard. Why make me come back to ask, instead of explaining the correction at check-in? On Sunday, October 27, at about 9:15 a.m., I was lying in bed when a male employee unlocked my bedroom door and tried to come in. He didn’t knock or say he was from housekeeping. I have no idea why he tried to enter. The only thing that stopped him was the interior metal slide lock I had engaged.

The room is decorated nicely, and there’s a 7-Eleven nearby, so that’s convenient. Service was fine, nothing bad but nothing special either.

The mattress was okay, but the place itself is old and in poor shape. It can do if nowhere else is available, since they seem to always have rooms. For the room and service, though, I think the price is a bit high compared with other hotels.

The conference room on the 8th floor was well equipped, and the staff there were friendly and efficient. Airport pickup and dropoff are available, about 25 minutes when traffic is clear. It’s also an easy walk to a seven eleven, small restaurants, and cafes. My room was comfortable enough despite being on the small side. The furnishings were basic, but the room and bedding were clean, and the bathroom and shower were spotless with no mould. There were plugs and a hairdryer, though the mini-bar was sparse and there was no room safe. Breakfast is ordered from a menu on the first floor, not served buffet style. It came a little slowly, but they brought toast, jam, coffee, and fruit while I waited.
