Le Cassia Hotel

We just finished two nights here. For what you pay, the hotel is really good. In Bangkok, the same place might cost 2,000-3,000 baht. It’s quite large and sits on a city street, not in a back alley. The staff were top-notch for me, friendly and efficient. We spoke Thai, so I can’t say for sure how good their English is, though I’d guess it’s limited. The room was fine for the price. The bed was huge, clean, and not hard, and the room and towels were quite clean. Free soap and shower caps were provided, but no toothbrush. Soundproofing really isn’t great: a few Thai guests next door woke me at 4am with a small party, then played crap techno music all day. At 3pm I asked to move, and they sent me to the sixth floor without hesitation. The showers aren’t very hot. Lower-floor rooms are cooler, while higher floors are significantly warmer. There’s also a lack of CCTV throughout the floors. The housekeeping lady was friendly, but they need to silence their phones. Nobody wants to hear Line messages at full volume at 7am. The TVs are really huge, with YouTube, Netflix, and over 100 channels. Breakfast is 150 baht if you want it. I checked it out, and Western guests will probably be disappointed: there are about two Thai dishes, such as pad grapao, plus eggs, toast, cereal, and not much else. Khon Kaen is easy to get around with Grab, so food and transport are easy. The area is fine, and I recommend the pasta shop across the road.

Quiet location, about a 15-minute walk from the city center and around 500 meters from 7eleven. The bed was comfy, the room was spacious and ultra clean, and the staff were lovely. Amazing stay and good value for money.

There wasn’t a single quiet day during my several-day stay. The soundproofing is so poor I could hear people setting cups down in the next room. Events, companies, and group travelers add to the noise, and when there’s an event they play music for hours, loud enough to echo through the hotel. I had to change rooms twice. The last night was the worst. There was banging and noise from upstairs all evening, even at midnight. When I asked about it, they said they were removing the event equipment. Why do that at midnight? I had to change rooms again in the middle of the night. I’ve never stayed in a hotel with such poor service and noise. I absolutely do not recommend this place.

The staff were kind and very helpful. My room was clean and quiet, and the bed was comfy. I stayed one night, and the shower had hot water. Cozy place.
