Tonwa Resort Hotel

This was a very quiet place when I booked at the end of February 2023. I didn’t see any other guests or staff in the garden, except when someone showed me to my room. You can hear cheers when there’s an event at the local stadium. The resort has a relaxing garden in the middle, though it looked neglected. The water was dirty, leaves needed sweeping, and it could use general maintenance. The wooden or plastic chairs and tables weren’t very comfortable. My room had a balcony overlooking the garden, with a small wooden table and two chairs. The bed was okay, but the pillows were hard. The shower labeling was confusing: the cold nozzle gave hot water. There was a Thai sign above the sink explaining it, though it applied to the shower. Service is available around the clock and prices are affordable. Keep in mind there’s a 300 baht deposit, which was returned without a problem. The location is generally convenient for what you might need, but the immediate area within 700 meters felt a bit desolate. Booking at the door didn’t save money, so Agoda or a similar site may be worth checking.

The room was spotless, but basic: no shower curtain and no comfortable chair, just a wooden one at the desk. The bed was hard as stone, so I folded the cover to make it a little softer. Breakfast was à la carte. Tonwa is about three kilometers from the center, and you’ll need a good navigator to find it. There are several buildings, a nice garden, and a large parking area with security. I’d still recommend Tonwa for a tour.

The garden at the center of the room area is fantastic, and Tonwa Resort is a nice place to stay. Getting there can be tricky, though, with narrow, winding city roads around the resort. Also, the hot water runs on solar power. When I tried to shower in the evening, there wasn’t any hot water, even after letting it run for several minutes as suggested.

A nice spot to unwind, get some work done during the day, and sleep peacefully at night. There are lots of breakfast choices, especially good if you like pan eggs, or Kai Kata. They were delicious.
