Blue Sky Resort

For three days we barely slept because a nearby club played techno from 22:00 until 7:00. I don’t think the bungalows’ open walls block any of that noise. Maybe there’s nothing the accommodation can do about the club, though I disagree. Couldn’t nearby places work together on it before the village ends up owned by 20 drunk Brits ready to party? We thought this was great value until we discovered the club. For a cheap, simple cottage, a cold shower would’ve been fine, but we got just one blanket and no sheets, which felt unhygienic. The shower hose was broken and water only came out at one angle, so it took two people to get one person washed. The drain smelled really bad too.

The cheap room worked well for the price, and Lonely Beach is about a 10 minute walk away. Just be ready for noise: the place sits right in the island's party area, so it isn't a quiet retreat, though I could still sleep. The owner was kind, friendly, and helpful. The resort beach is rocky and shallow, so getting into the water isn't easy. A good fit for backpackers who aren't after luxury.

The location suits you if you're looking for Lonely Beach, but the room was a huge letdown. We paid over 1,000 baht for a space of maybe 10sqm, barely enough for two people. I've spent more than 6 months on Thai islands and haven't had a room this small. We booked the one with air conditioning, and it felt like a storage room. There was no shampoo or soap either. At that price, I expected more; 300-400 baht would make more sense.

The little houses for one or two people are a good deal at 190฿ a night, which is why I chose this place. Getting to the resort takes a bit of a ride, but the beach is just meters away and you're right in the middle of the local village.
