Marco Guest House

The area is lively and noisy, since this is the party village on ko Chang. Bring earplugs, maybe have a beer before bed, and you’ll sleep fine. We had clean, comfortable rooms right in the heart of lonely beach, with a warm, welcoming feel from the German and Italian couple who own the guest house. Marco has a pizza oven and makes delicious pizza, just like the stereotype. Best pizza in all southeast Asia.

The beautiful Lonely Beach is only a few minutes away on foot, and the guest house has a hammock for lounging. Marco’s pizza was fabulous, and it was nice sharing drinks with other guests and neighbours. We stayed five nights and felt very welcome. Marco and Editha even took us on a fantastic snorkeling trip. The German and Italian couple are so friendly, we could have stayed forever. It can get noisy around the party zone in Lonely Beach, but that didn’t bother us.

I ended up staying longer than planned because I felt so at home. Marco and Editha are wonderful hosts and always try to make things comfortable. Marco’s a great Italian cook, too. Hugs to you and your sweet dogs. :)

We did get our 1000 Baht deposit back in the end, but the checkout dispute was the worst part of our stay. The owner said the sweat marks on the sheet were oil and wanted to keep the money. Oil on sheets was listed as one reason they might hold the deposit. We had to leave 1000 Baht in case we damaged the room, and she wouldn’t accept our explanation at first. The room itself was mostly okay, though the bed was unstable. The bathroom door wouldn’t close properly, and once I got stuck trying to open it for about 10 minutes before I could get out. We also couldn’t shut the only window. Since the room was on the very first floor, we worried about our belongings whenever we went out. From the start, before we’d even put our backpacks down, the owner kept pushing us to book diving through her friend’s center. It was quite expensive, but we found a cheaper option just down the street.
