The Sunflower Bungalows

The rooms had nothing beyond a mattress, a loose shower and a blocked toilet. There wasn't even a sink, so I had to brush my teeth and wash my hands in the shower. No shelves, hooks or chairs either. The wood had holes and cracks, and the room was sticky and moldy. With no AC, bugs, spiders, ants and even cockroaches were inside. It felt like living outdoors. Don't trust the pictures or the outside appearance. I stayed only overnight because it was late and I'd booked ahead. I also injured myself on the poorly maintained property. Thomas showed no sympathy or willingness to help, and took no responsibility. I've stayed in plenty of bungalows and never given a one-star review before, but these were the worst I've come across. They may be cheap, but with so many other options, I don't think they're worth it.

The reception woman was incredibly rude when we asked to change rooms. She flatly refused, saying, “Then my cleaners have to clean the room, and for what???” We'd already tried to make it work for two nights, but she expected us to stay for the last three. I've never had staff treat me so rudely during a stay. Very disappointing. The fan had been a problem for days. It barely gave off cool air and didn't point toward the beds. We tried to put up with it, but in April the heat was unbearable.

Loved the place. It's close to the nightlife in Lonely Beach.

A nice place, and the prices are low.
