Jungle Koh Kood Resort

The staff were friendly and helpful, which is about the only reason I’d give it two stars instead of one. The pool has apparently been unusable for months. The water was green and dirty, and there was no way to swim in it. My bed had lots of hair on it, the rooms were very unclean and badly outdated, and it felt like rats would be more welcome here than guests. For the money, I’d choose one of the nicer places by the beach instead.

A lovely wooden house tucked into the jungle, with air-conditioning that kept it cool. The staff were so helpful that I stayed longer than planned. It felt like home, and the breakfast was delicious!

The gardens are full of tall palms and gorgeous greenery, and the pool area is lovely. The location is handy for everything, scooter rental at the hotel is reasonably priced, and the staff were kind and friendly. Our room didn’t work for us. The bed was just a mattress on the floor, which was comfortable and had soft cotton sheets, but there was no chair, table or anywhere to put clothes and toiletries. The bathroom wasn’t sealed, so there were cockroaches and giant mosquitoes inside. It also wasn’t very clean, and having some huge lizards in the room would be a problem if you’re scared of them. Outside our room the beautiful setting turned into a swampy, bad-smelling area. We paid around €70 a night, which is a lot in Thailand, and didn’t feel it was worth the price. A little maintenance and some basic places to sit, even a couple of bean bags, would make a difference. It’s a shame, because the setting could be so nice.

The staff were nice, and the pool area was good. The wooden hut rooms have only a mattress on the floor, so keep expectations modest. It’s a decent place, a little out of the way, but only a few minutes from town and the beach.
