The pool was unusable because sharp, loose tiles stuck out, which felt like a serious safety issue. There was no warning about this when booking. Reception staff were very hard to communicate with and didn’t seem able to help. The restaurant where breakfast is served practically doesn’t exist, and the staff there were awful and rude. I can’t recommend the hotel, especially for the money.

I’ve stayed here a couple of times in different types of accommodation. The bamboo bungalows are very rustic, and I loved the toad. The AC rooms are good, as are the larger family rooms. I hired bikes and arranged transfers without any problems. One night there was strange karaoke from the Sound Shack next door, but usually it’s chilled house music at sunset.

At the Blue Restaurant, our coffee was basically water. We politely mentioned it to the manager and weren’t asking for anything, just wanted to share our opinion. She got angry and aggressive, and was very disrespectful to us.

The beach is lovely, but the noise and the way the issue was handled made my three-night stay awful. Construction started early right under my room, waking me up, and nobody mentioned it at check-in even though other rooms were available. When I asked for a refund, I was told I should have warned them the day before the work began. Their proposed fix was another room at a higher rate, which I later found listed online for less. The communication and problem-solving need work. Maybe come after construction is finished, unless you want very loud power tools with your morning coffee.
