Klongdao Beach Resort

I visited the public beach, which is shared with a few nearby hotels, rather than staying in this bungalow. I was there in June, during low season in Ko Lanta, so there weren't many tourists and the beach felt quiet and serene. It's long, sandy and clean, good for a run, and the sunset was calming.

A clean, tidy beach with not many tourists when I visited, so it felt very peaceful. Good for a swim before sunset too, since the waves weren't too strong.

The food menu is really good value, and the bakery has nice cinnamon rolls, custard bread and the like. The coffee is okay. It's a simple place, with a big dry lawn and some shade trees. The owner seems to want to keep it that way so the mostly German residents aged 60 and up, plus some Scandinavians, aren't disturbed by kids or families. The owner and staff are friendly, but rarely smile. Don't get too close to someone else's sun chair, or you may get a stare and an annoyed comment auf Deutch. Definitely worth going, just don't expect a warm welcome.

The location is great, and the live music was relaxed and enjoyable. The food was tasty and affordable, around 160-300 BHT per person. Service was a little slow, though the manager apologized for the delay.
