Lanta Blue House

The location worked well for us: a quiet neighborhood and about a five-minute walk to the beach. By quiet, I mean little street noise and no nearby mosque, though the roosters around will make sure you know it’s morning. 😊 Blue House offers good value on an island where prices are usually high, about 500B online. The room was quite clean, and I think housekeeping is daily if you ask. The outside areas were rough around the edges, but the room had everything we needed: cool AC, a large fridge, kettle, hot shower, TV with HDMI, and small dining tables inside and outside. The mattress was much too hard for us and left us with sore backs, so after a couple of days we moved to a slightly more upscale hotel, mostly because of the bed. Hard mattresses are something you sometimes come across in rural Thailand, though less so in tourist areas.

The owners were extremely nice and helpful, and the price for what you get was great. The room was basic but had everything I needed. I’d moved here from a noisy bungalow and paid three times less. I extended my stay without any trouble, and my room was cleaned every day. That’s not usual in Thailand, especially at this price, and it shows they care. The owner also offers cheap laundry service. There are two nice beaches close by, two very good restaurants I can recommend, Chef Chalong and Friendly Lanta restaurants, and Lotus and 7-Eleven nearby. If you’re not expecting luxury, I wouldn’t hesitate.

Everything felt cozy and in good condition, and the room was comfortable, with a big fridge and good air conditioning. They provided a liter of drinking water each day. There’s a mini-market, an ATM, and two nearby restaurants, though they aren’t cheap. The staff spoke very little English.

A peaceful spot on Koh Lanta, with cats and chickens around. The room had everything we needed and was cleaned every day. Call the friendly owners directly for a lower rate, 300B a night instead of the 350 from booking.
