Poonsap Apartment Koh Lanta

The rooms are comfortable and reasonably clean, and the wifi is good, but there was no TV despite it being advertised. This is really just rooms with a pool, without resort amenities. The advertised services either weren't available or hadn't been explained to guests. We didn't get airport pickup, and the shuttle was an overpriced taxi. We'd booked five rooms for ten days through a site that said online payment was possible, but on arrival we were told cash was required, TBH 75000. The pool deck is the worst part and seems dangerous. I wouldn't bring small children here.

The pool was spotless and a lovely place to unwind after exploring the island, and the location made a great base for seeing Koh Lanta. The owners and staff were genuinely warm, welcoming, and ready to help with anything we needed. We had an amazing stay and would happily come back. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for comfort, kind people, and a good atmosphere.

We booked through Booking at 990 baht a night, already a lot for this hotel. Since we arrived late, tired, and with the good hotels nearby full, the owner started telling us Booking takes a big commission and that we had to pay 1287 baht per night instead. He was rude and unpleasant. In six months of traveling around Thailand, we'd never run into anything like it. The hotel itself isn't worth the price. It's old and dirty, the plumbing is broken, and the air conditioner is old, loud, and dirty. The TV looks like it's from the 1990s. The duplex rooms have a connecting door to the neighboring room, and you can hear everything through it and from the street: talking, snoring, even people using the toilet. It was terrible, the worst hotel in Thailand.

It was a strange setup. On arrival, we were told we'd be staying in another apartment near the main road, so we assumed they were overbooked and using it as backup. The owner drove us there. It was a nice apartment, close to restaurants and the beach, but we'd wanted the pool right outside, since the sea was full of sea lice and we kept getting stung when trying to swim. The apartment was about a 20-25 minute walk from the resort. We walked over to use the pool, but on the second day we got a scooter from the resort because we'd seen a 5-6 foot snake on the road and didn't want to walk there in the dark. They delivered the scooter, which was nice of them, but the whole experience was odd.
