Lanta Nice Beach Resort

The beach is beautiful, and the location is right beside it. Breakfast was a perfect buffet, and they supplied water and toilet paper every day. Room cleaning was included if you wanted it. My only small gripe was that I didn’t get a discount when I extended my stay by a couple of days, and booking the same room online showed double the price. Otherwise, everything was good and I’d recommend staying here.

The beach itself is beautiful, but this place was a terrible experience for us. The facilities, management and customer service were all poor, and it wasn’t as Agoda represented it. We thought we had booked a beach bungalow with a garden view, but were put across a very busy road in an old, neglected part of the property. The manager was unpleasant even at check-in and ignored our complaints about the run-down room. The toilet leaked, there was no hand soap, and the towels were stained. We asked for two days to have the room cleaned, then staff said they hadn’t known it needed doing. There aren’t many beach chairs, either. Look elsewhere.

We’ve been traveling for fifteen years, so trust me when I say this place is excellent value. The rooms are huge, the food is mega delicious, and the staff are wonderful. They even teach us some Thai words. The resort sits on a beautiful long beach, and we had breakfast at the beachfront restaurant while watching the calm waves lap the shore. Ten stars for you, Lanta Nice Beach Resort!

The view and beach are wonderful, and breakfast was edible. The cleaning and breakfast staff were all friendly, smiling and welcoming. Still, I wouldn’t recommend staying here based on what happened to us. We expected the room we paid for, or something similar. We found out the hard way that rooms listed as the same type, Superior Garden Side, can differ by 25 years. The buildings aren’t similar, and the interior quality is laughably different. One room had a hole-ridden wooden door instead of a new sliding glass one, AC that didn’t work, mould on the walls, and a door that wouldn’t shut properly, with creaks at the top, side and bottom. One side of the door was the only part that animals couldn’t get through, and the back door had the same issue. There was also a random square in the roof with a gap. The walls, especially around the shower, had strange stains, and showering brought a foul smell. The AC seemed like it hadn’t been changed or cleaned in 25 years, since it didn’t cool down after many hours. In the new room, it took only seven minutes. The rooms aren’t all terrible, and I suspect plenty of guests have a comfortable stay. I can only speak from our experience, though. Paying for what seemed to be the third generation of a room can mean getting something rough and disgusting. Nearly every part of the first room we were given was bad enough. We had a long, unpleasant conversation with the manager, who seemed to think we were being Karens, and got nowhere. We should have complained about a refund the previous day, although then we were told the manager wasn’t ready until, you guessed it, today. We first asked cleaning staff, who said our room wasn’t the one we’d ordered and that we could get a refund. Reception said we could have another room tomorrow, the one we’d paid for, but had to stay in the current one for the night. We then asked for a refund for that night, and that’s when the lovely manager got involved. Our suggestion to warn guests that rooms of the “same type” differ went way over her head. The new room was what we expected, much better, yet both rooms cost the same. We were lucky it was available for the last two nights of our three-night stay. I suspect that hasn’t happened for everyone who complained. I’ll share some lovely and some not-so-lovely photos so you can judge for yourself. I’m sure there are worse places nearby, but this one can be a big disappointment, and I wouldn’t want that to happen to anyone else.
